The Senior Director AI Workforce Transformation leader will create, oversee, and/or consult on all major AI Workforce Transformation workstreams for UHC Operations & Experience. This role is responsible for creating and managing major transformation workstreams, identifying owners and gaps, and establishing a framework to ensure workstreams are coordinated and aligned with enterprise goals. This role will align to the UHC Operations Strategy & Business Enablement Team and collaborate closely with Operations leadership, Technology leadership, the People Team, Communications, and Business stakeholders across the entire company. If successful, this role will drive the upskilling of the largest people organization in UHC, enable the enterprise to responsibly adopt AI to improve quality, and drive meaningful cost savings across processes.

Primary Responsibilities:



  • Shape and Execute AI Strategy: Shape, communicate, and implement a comprehensive AI workforce transformation strategy aimed at modernizing our operations and realizing experience enhancements, cost savings, and efficiencies
  • Workstream Management: Oversee portfolio management of multiple AI workstreams, ensuring alignment with organizational goals, efficient resource allocation, progress monitoring, risk management, and continuous improvement. Identify the right work and owners across COO, technology, and other business teams to drive ideation and execution of AI-related workstreams
  • AI Value Measurement: Develop frameworks for measuring AI value and ROI, ensuring alignment with business KPIs, quality standards, and key timelines. Guide strategic investment decisions and prioritization for AI initiatives
  • Collaboration Best Practices: Facilitate collaboration across workstreams and across the organization, including tooling, change management, talent, workforce planning, learning, and executive workshops, to ensure effective implementation of AI initiatives. Provide insights, frameworks, and best practices to support leadership in operating as AI leaders
  • Change Management: Lead large-scale change management efforts to foster AI literacy and ensure smooth adoption and integration of AI solutions across the organization. Develop and implement strategies to manage the full population of O&E, including early adopters and resisters. Strategies should include but are not limited to targeted training programs, employee engagement platforms, gamification, communication strategies, and strategic hiring practices
  • Future Workforce Planning: Be forward-thinking about the medium and long-term impact of AI and prepare the organization for future changes by anticipating shifts in the type of work performed and developing strategies to manage these transitions
  • Market Innovation: Continuously monitor and evaluate the latest trends and advancements in AI technology and applications, ensuring that O&E remains at the forefront of innovation. Match business needs with opportunities to leverage external innovation or talent through technology, BPO, and other external vendors
  • Executive Communication: Develop and deliver compelling executive-level presentations and narratives that effectively communicate the value and impact of AI initiatives to stakeholders, fostering buy-in and support across the organization

Required Qualifications:



  • 7+ years of strategy or product experience, working with highly complex initiatives
  • 2+ years with AI/ML strategy, product, and/or technical experience to solve business problems
  • Proven experience in large scale transformation or change management
  • Demonstrated experience leading initiatives, partnering with senior stakeholders, and driving impact at scale
  • Proven innovative and continuous improvement mindset, with the ability to adapt to emerging business needs

The salary range for this role is $150,200 to $288,500 annually based on full-time employment. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
