Student Union Facilities & Event Services

Job Summary

This position leads and manages professional and administrative duties related to operations of all indoor and outdoor spaces managed by Student Union Facilities and Event Services in Statesboro, GA (Russell Union Student Center: 110,000 sq. ft. & Williams Center: 41,000 sq. ft.); Make strategic, procedural, and developmental recommendations and develop plans related to facilities planning, space utilization and management, safety and accessibility requirements, relocation and asset management; Coordinates operations to support audio/visual, event services and facility management.

Responsibilities
  • Supervise, hire and train Professional staff, Graduate Assistants and 30-40 Student Assistants; facilitate large group training sessions; participate in staff recognition and development opportunities
  • Manage assigned resources to provide space, services and equipment for campus activities and coordinate the activity needs of student, faculty, staff, and community users of the Russell Union, Williams Center Student Organization Center, and associated outdoor spaces
  • Manage large scale event planning; develop, distribute, and complete assessment & evaluation instruments
  • Develop facility rental contracts/special event coordination for internal and external users and conduct set up meetings for large scale events
  • Manage the departmental asset control/inventory records


Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree

Required Experience
  • Three (3) or more years of related work experience in customer service, maintenance, or facility management
  • Strong background in coordination, staff supervision, and/or project management


Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Educational Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in management, business, higher education or a related field

Preferred Experience
  • Three (3) or more years of supervisory experience
  • Experience in event management or a higher education institution
  • Experience in event management (EMS) software
  • Leadership of a program or unit related to recreation, facility management, or maintenance
  • Ability to administer multiple ongoing tasks and follow complex administrative procedures


Proposed Salary

$46,513 - $53,000

This is an exempt position paid on a montly basis.

  • Knowledge of OSHA standards and operating procedures
  • Demonstrated experience with facility management and facility safety standards
