Job Overview

The Manager Strategy & Planning leads the development and execution of strategic and business planning activities. This role tracks and leads team progress towards outcomes and ensures that the Strategy and Planning team provides expert guidance to operations teams. Assists in the development and implementation of the corporate vision and key strategic priorities.

Qualifications

  • EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree in Communication, Business, Healthcare Administration, Economics, Analytics, or related field.
  • EXPERIENCE: Five (5) years of experience developing and implementing strategic and/or business plans. Experience in advising senior leadership and/or consulting.
  • EQUIVALENCY: Four (4) years of related experience, beyond stated requirements, may be substituted for the Bachelor's degree.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

An employee in this position may be called upon to do any or all of the following essential functions. These examples do not include all of the functions which the employee may be expected to perform.

  • Participates in leadership activities for the Strategy and Planning division, contributing to the achievement of goals and objectives and serves as a champion of enterprise-wide culture, influencing culture change to support functional objectives.
  • Identifies and assigns resources to facilitate the strategic and business plan development process for prioritized areas.
  • Collaborates with upline leadership to create departmental infrastructure including toolkits, approaches, and other resources, as necessary.
  • Provides ongoing strategic counsel which includes identifying, analyzing and recommending actions that improve the Children's Hospital Colorado's (CHCO) value proposition, growth opportunities, operational excellence and competitive position
  • Provides technical expertise on the development of business analytics, assessments and intelligence that support the overall strategic capability.
  • Manages communications to the enterprise on projects and hot topics related to strategic and business planning activities. Effectively articulates and presents strategic priorities and implementation plans to a variety of audiences.
  • Educates leadership and others on strategic planning and project management processes and templates. Provides support in directing and facilitating the strategic process.
  • Reports complex data in a comprehensive and informative way, incorporating quantitative and qualitative information such as market share, forecasting, feasibility and competitive intelligence, and physician liaison field reports.
  • Assigns and reviews work, provides work instruction and develops team members. Evaluates performance of team members, providing continuous feedback. Manages discipline and performance issues; hires and fires team members. Identifies resource needs and develops recommendations for meeting needs.
  • Contributes to CHCO's forecast planning cycle, aligning business-unit plans with corporate goals and objectives.
  • Leads and manages the implementation, tracking and progress reporting of multiple strategic engagements simultaneously through completion.
  • Works collaboratively with physicians, operational leadership and finance team members in strategy and business plan development for the various service lines, clinical programs, and operational units. Develops and maintains relationships and partnerships with internal and external stakeholders.

SCOPE AND LEVEL

Guidelines: Guidelines are in the form of stated goals and objectives for function.

Complexity: Work assignment is unstructured and leader is responsible for implementing and managing a variety of objectives, resources, and initiatives to achieve the goals of the function. Duties performed include operational planning; developing standards, priorities, guidelines, processes, measurement (evaluation) systems; implementation of production and performance management standards; and allocating resources. Work is tactical and operational in nature.

Decision Making: Employee is responsible for planning, organizing, allocating resources, ensuring compliance with procedures, and achieving the objectives of the function.

Communications: Communication at this level is primarily internally focused and involves establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with team members, peers, directors, and executives. Provides guidance and interpretation of the enterprise's policies, procedures, and standards. Provides information to higher-level directors and executives.

Supervision Received: Responsible for achieving the objectives of function within the scope of established guidelines. Employee is expected to resolve problems that arise in the normal course of the work. Work is reviewed for soundness of judgment and feasibility of decisions.

Salary Information

Annual Salary Range (Based on 40 hours worked per week): $126,698.59 to $190,047.88
Hourly Salary Range: $60.91 to $91.37
