Job Overview

The System Strategy Advisor conducts comprehensive analysis, planning, and development of strategic initiatives that span the entire spectrum of healthcare services. Collaborates closely with hospital and health system executives to interpret and implement the strategic plan across various geographic markets and service lines. Provides expert guidance on strategic matters such as service development, market expansion, capital investments, and physician workforce planning. Working alongside executives and subject matter experts, this role crafts specialized strategies for areas such as surgery, neonatology, cardiology, organ transplantation, respiratory health, cancer and blood disorders, digestive health, neurosciences, and mental health services.

Qualifications

  • EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business, Economics, Analytics or related field.
  • EXPERIENCE: Five (5) years of experience in healthcare strategy, planning, and organizational development with emphasis on analyzing and interpreting large databases, utilizing data visualization to provide recommendations.
  • EQUIVALENCY: Four (4) years of related experience, beyond stated requirements, may be substituted for the Bachelor's degree.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

An employee in this position may be called upon to do any or all of the following essential functions. These examples do not include all of the functions which the employee may be expected to perform.

  • Performs complicated analysis, employs forecasting approaches, and creates data models to assess the effects of changing market dynamics, such as changes in population size, use rates, market share, payer mix and rates, demographics, community needs, and technology.
  • Storyboards and professionally presents findings and recommendations, both in writing and verbally; while effectively communicating strategic goals and execution techniques to a diverse group of audiences, including executives.
  • Actively engages key stakeholders with strategic communication and knowledge enhancement initiatives to foster informed decision-making in the evolving healthcare industry. Answers questions, details strategic implications and offers unique insights.
  • Plans, organizes, and facilitates medium-to-large strategy and design sessions to plan strategic initiatives across ESP and collaborates with physicians, operational leadership and finance team members. Captures/synthesizes findings and recommendations
  • Develops strategies and strategic plans by breaking down complex problems into discrete tasks to scope projects into a defined set of tasks, responsibilities, and timelines and leads project execution.
  • Responsible for strategic programming for assigned markets and services, including the establishment of timetables and accountability for strategies required for the strategic plan's effective execution.
  • Assists leadership in finding novel approaches to solving new problems and monitoring progress against the strategic plan on a continuous basis. Partners with assigned hospital leadership teams to establish market-specific initiatives in accordance with the health system's strategic plan and environmental headwinds.
  • Collaborates with Finance, Operations, and Clinical Leadership to create business cases for new initiatives, such as promoting the use of new technology and procedures to enhance patient care and operational efficiency.
  • Supports the coordination and development of all Executive Deliverables for Enterprise Strategy and Partnerships including Board presentations, Business plans and various other leadership presentations.
  • Collaborates with the Children's Hospital of Colorado Foundation to engage significant donors in our main goals and create "cases for support" to secure large donor financing.
  • Performs a strategic review of facility capital projects in coordination with the operational and facility executives and develop recommendations.
  • Provides mentorship and guidance to team members and leaders, fostering a culture of excellence, professional development and adherence to CHCO Standards of Behavior

SCOPE AND LEVEL

Guidelines: Fully qualified, full performance or journey level. Complexity: Duties assigned are generally complex and may be of substantial intricacy. Work assignment is performed within an established framework under general instructions but requires simultaneous coordination of assigned functions or projects in various stages of completion.

Decision Making: Exercises judgment and discretion, and is responsible for determining the time, place and sequence of the work performed.

Communications: Contacts with team members, clients or the public where explanatory or interpretive information is exchanged, defended, and gathered and discretion and judgment are required within the parameters of the job function.

Supervision Received: Performs work with minimal supervisory oversight. Under general supervision, the employee receives assignments and is expected to carry them through to completion with substantial independence. Work is reviewed for adherence to instructions, accuracy, completeness, and conformance to standard practice or precedent. Recurring work clearly covered by guidelines may or may not be reviewed.

Salary Information

Annual Salary Range (Based on 40 hours worked per week): $109,636.42 to $164,454.63
Hourly Salary Range: $52.71 to $79.06
