We are ranked as one of Computerworld 's Top Places to Work in IT 6 years running, and we are seeking a dedicated IT Support/Jr. Systems Administrator to help us protect APL 's information technology infrastructure.

As a member of our team, you will provide IT and IA assistance for our Highly Classified information systems in support of Sponsor/Program needs. You'll join an impressive team of technical specialists who are motivated by one common goal, supporting our Program needs. You 'll be an active contributor to the safeguarding of APL 's Sponsor network systems. With your help, we will provide information assurance, system administration, and systems engineering for mainly Windows and some Linux-based systems in multiple highly classified facilities. You'll assistance in identifying and solving technical issues relating to Information Assurance system hardening (ensuring system availability, integrity, authentication and confidentiality).

As a Classified IT Analyst Specialist, you will...

  • Work in teams and independently to research, analyze, diagnose, and resolve complex customer and network issues with classified systems within government directed guidelines using detailed processes, personal expertise or leadership guidance as needed.
  • Analyze and resolve moderately complex computer hardware and software issues across multiple networks with specific compliance requirements
  • Apply knowledge of DoD policies and regulations to handle user accounts, reset passwords, and provide general IT support to the customer community within highly classified facilities
  • Update documentation in parallel with DoD policies and regulations
  • Partner with the Systems Administrator in locking down computers across several mixed environments based upon each classified security requirements
  • Independently research and provide input to security relevant documentation such as security CONOPS, Security Controls Traceability Matrix's, System Security Plans
  • Research alternative approaches to configure, install, and maintain computer systems in a networked environment to increase the efficiency of the processes
  • Participate as part of the project team completing various task including implement backup technology respective to the environment and developing solutions for LAN and WAN environments within highly classified facilities

Qualifications

You meet our minimum qualifications for the job if you have...

  • Possess a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, related field or 4+ years of IT support experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, organization, documentation and presentation skills and the ability to optimally work well with all levels of staff.
  • Hands-on experience supporting and maintaining computer systems
  • Experience troubleshooting and configuring operating systems, applications, and user settings through Group Policy.
  • Experience manually building physical systems
  • Experience using basic troubleshooting steps to resolve network issues
  • Met DoD 8570 or 8140 certification (Security+ or CISSP) requirements
  • Hold an active TS/SCI security clearance and can ultimately obtain a TS/SCI w/ Poly level clearance. If selected, you will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship.

You 'll go above and beyond our minimum requirements if you have...

  • Experience updating and handling user accounts in Active Directory environments
  • Experience applying STIGs to Windows, Linux, applications, and network peripherals.
  • Working experience with VMware or other virtualization software.
  • Experience configuring managed Layer 3 switches, endpoint protection applications, or enterprise level experience with programming / scripting languages.
  • Working familiarity with Joint SAP Implementation Guide (JSIG) or Intelligence Community Directives (ICD) security requirements.

The referenced pay range is based on JHU APL's good faith belief at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as geographic location, work experience, market conditions, education/training and skill level with consideration for internal parity. For salaried employees scheduled to work less than 40 hours per week, annual salary will be prorated based on the number of hours worked. APL may offer bonuses or other forms of compensation per internal policy and/or contractual designation. Additional compensation may be provided in the form of a sign-on bonus, relocation benefits, locality allowance or discretionary payments for exceptional performance. APL provides eligible staff with a comprehensive benefits package including retirement plans, paid time off, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, flexible spending accounts, education assistance, and training and development.
