POSITION SPECIFICS

The Applied Research Laboratory (ARL) at Penn State is searching for a customer service-oriented, self-starter to fill the role of a Student Recruitment and Programs Coordinator for the ARL Human Resources team. ARL's purpose is to research and develop innovative solutions to challenging scientific, engineering, and technology problems in support of the Navy, the Department of Defense (DoD), and the Intel Community (IC).

ARL is an authorized DoD SkillBridge partner and welcomes all transitioning military members to apply.

You will:

  • Organize, administer and manage student internships, co-ops, processes, and operations at ARL (undergrad and grad) to include creating and managing Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and training ARL staff on the SOPs
  • Ensure all student appointments are processed correctly and in a timely manner, to include graduate assistantships, part-time graduate and undergraduate appointments, etc.
  • Collaborate with CoE, Grad School, and other peers across campus to ensure our processes align with university policies, processes, and best practices
  • Lead and coordinate student recruitment activities, including attendance at career events and other student events
  • Work closely with the ARL Leadership, Culture and Student Program office in the development of all student programs
  • Manage ARL's Federal Work Study program; complete pilot, finalize program, train, and research other options
  • Manage the DoD SkillBridge internship program, acting as POC for ARL
  • Answer questions and interpret student policies for students, faculty, and staff at ARL
  • Determine and manage student wage increases based on market and federal minimum wage rates
  • Ensure the proper tracking and reporting of all active students
  • Ensure the proper off boarding of all students
  • May monitor and track budgets as requested
  • May supervise staff members, including hiring, development, and performance management

Required Skills and Knowledge:

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook)
  • Agility in managing multiple priorities concurrently
  • Ability to resolve issues and prioritize work, both independently and as a team member
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise discretion and confidentiality
  • Success in an office environment, where various forms of communication and organizational skills were crucial to be effective
  • Workday or other Human Capital Management systems
  • Atlassian tools Confluence and Jira or other collaboration/project management/issue tracking software

MINIMUM EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE & REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS

If filled as Academic Program Specialist - Advanced Professional, this position requires: Bachelor's Degree 3+ years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience accepted Required Certifications: None If filled as Academic Program Specialist - Intermediate Professional, this position requires: Bachelor's Degree 1+ years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience accepted Required Certifications: None

Employment with the University will require successful completion of background check(s) in accordance with University policies. SALARY & BENEFITS

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades, is $51,000.00 - $81,500.00.**THE PROPOSED SALARY RANGE MAY BE IMPACTED BY GEOGRAPHIC DIFFERENTIAL**
