Controller

• Manage general and subsidiary ledgers, prepare financial statements, and handle tax submissions (sales tax, 941).
• Oversee annual audits, develop financial footnotes, and prepare IRS Form 990.
• Supervise and support staff involved in AP, AR, and student accounts.
• Conduct cash and asset management activities, including endowment and investment operations.
• Implement FASB accounting standards and oversee fixed asset accounting and planning.
• Manage banking operations such as wire transfers, ACH transactions, and fund transfers.
• Lead monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial closes and analyze cash-on-hand.
• Collaborate with leadership on budgeting and special financial projects while maintaining professionalism across departments.

• Bachelor's degree required (Associate's with 5-7 years relevant experience considered); 3-5 years minimum experience.
• Advanced Excel skills required; proficiency in Word, PowerPoint, and a willingness to learn new software.
• Experience in higher education preferred; CPA or CPA-candidate preferred.
• Strong understanding of GAAP and experience with accounting software (e.g., Ellucian Colleague, Fundriver).
• Proven experience supervising both exempt and non-exempt staff.
• Must demonstrate strong accuracy, adaptability, organization, confidentiality, and prioritization skills.
• Must be comfortable working on campus with occasional non-standard hours and a potential flexible schedule.
• Excellent communication, critical thinking, technical, and multitasking skills are essential.
