About the Job

Position Summary

Reporting to the Associate Director of Employer Relations, this position focuses on developing and managing employer engagement and recruiting strategies among small and medium-sized law firms, fostering relationships with key stakeholders, and ensuring the integration of programs within the overall Career Center framework. The position is responsible for creating engagement opportunities for employers, with a focus on small and medium-sized law firms, to be more visible to all students, such as employer information sessions, targeted emails, and internal communications to their Career Counselor partners.

The position will also work collaboratively with the Associate Director and Public Interest Advisor for coordinated outreach to local Public Interest and Corporate employers

As an integral member of the Career Services team, this role has a strong understanding of our student and alumni career needs and is laser-focused on the outcomes of job opportunities and employer relationships.

This position ensures the seamless coordination of employer-related activities and events and provides a high level of customer service to employers, recruiters, and students.

The position is a full-time, primarily in-person, with occasional evening work and travel required for events, employer, and Career Center engagements. The salary is dependent upon experience and/or qualifications with a range of $55,000 - $60,000 annually.

Essential Functions
Employer Relations (50%)

  • Identify and create strategic employer development and recruiting plans, particularly among small and medium law firms, based on data analysis. Conduct consistent research and outreach to develop new employer relationships using a variety of methods.
  • Maintain accurate records for employer engagement and student outcomes related to recruiting partnerships.
  • Collaborate with campus partners to build relationships and establish pipelines of opportunity.
  • Provide employer and industry insights to assist Career Center staff in support of students and recent graduates. Partner with Career Counselors to understand the needs of our students and recent graduates.
  • Create and manage systems for employer engagement opportunities.
  • Partner with Career Counselors to understand the needs of our students and recent graduates. Meet with other Law School colleagues to ensure cross-functional efforts with all employer partners.
  • Partner with Career Center staff on developing and presenting student-facing programs.
  • Write, market and effectively communicate Career Center events, employer openings, and success stories via various applications and social media platforms.
  • Ensure a large volume of high-quality, program-related job opportunities are available to all students and alumni. Opportunities include internships, externships, part-time, and full-time, which include on-site, remote, and hybrid opportunities. Employer partners and their opportunities are vetted for quality and hiring potential.
  • Represent the Career Center at a variety of networking events, employer visits, and hosting organizations on campus.
  • Participate in professional development organizations such as the state and local bar associations, the Minnesota Legal Career Professionals (MnLCP), and the National Association of Law Placement (NALP).
  • Career Services Leadership assigns special projects, which can include piloting specific department initiatives.

Operations (50%):

  • Coordinate all aspects of employer-related events, including scheduling, logistics, technology support, room setup, catering, and communication with internal teams. Work independently or as a small team to support all logistics for events, including set-up, day-of efforts, and tracking important metrics post-event.
  • Provide tech-savvy support for employer events, including managing audiovisual equipment, virtual meeting platforms (e.g. Zoom, Microsoft Teams), and other digital tools used for recruitment activities and presentations.
  • Ensure timely and effective communication with employers regarding event logistics, registration, and other important details, serving as the go-to person for questions and concerns.
  • Collect and analyze feedback from employers and students to identify areas for improvement.
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree plus at least two years of relevant experience or Master's degree
  • Experience in a higher education setting
  • Strong interpersonal skills for building networks and relationships with external constituencies.
  • Demonstrated abilities in organization, problem solving, oral and written communication, and presentation skills
  • Experience with strategic planning or program design
  • Strong technical skills with the ability to multitask across various platforms and systems simultaneously
  • Commitment to student life and learning
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills required, including business writing, presentation, phone etiquette, and facilitating skills
  • Experience with data collection

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in student affairs, career services, higher education or related field
  • Experience in Career Services, Talent Acquisition, Recruiting, Marketing, or Human Resources
  • Familiarity with online recruiting technology and career services management systems (e.g. Symplicity, FloRecruit, 12Twenty, or other Applicant Tracking Systems)
  • Knowledge of student learning and program assessment techniques
  • Familiarity with legal employers and recruiting from a legal or business perspective
  • Experience working with law students
  • Experience working with diverse student populations
  • Training or experience with career development programming or employer relations
Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $55,000-$60,000 annually, depending on education/qualifications/experience

Time Appointment Category: 75%-100% Appointment (If job description above does not specify appointment or expected weekly hours, assume a 100% appointment.)
