Under the direction of the Patient Safety Officer, this position serves as the primary departmental contact for patient safety event reporting. The Patient Safety Associate will work collaboratively with the Patient Safety Officer, members of management and other clinical experts to coordinate prompt review and follow-up of patient safety events. The Patient Safety Associate is responsible for a variety of duties related to event reporting, data collection and preparation of reports to facilitate patient safety improvements. Required Qualifications: * 4 year degree in health sciences, business, health/information management, nursing, risk management or other related field. * Minimum of 3 years in a healthcare-related field * Strong, well developed organization and communication skills, including public speaking * Demonstrated commitment to continuing education and personal and professional development * Demonstrated ability to handle highly confidential information. * Demonstrated strong verbal and written communication skills. * Demonstrated organizational skills including ability to balance competing demands, set priorities, and facilitate a strong team environment. * Demonstrated commitment to continuing education and personal and professional development. * Ability to represent Meriter well within the community * Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint software. Preferred Qualifications: * 3-5 years of progressively responsible experience, in areas related to quality, patient safety, performance improvement or process redesign * Demonstrated ability and aptitude for facilitating process improvement teams * Knowledge of CQI process, methods, and tools, as demonstrated by use of the quality improvement tools and identifying opportunities for improvement, gaining an understanding of the process of care delivery, identifying causes of variation, evaluating potential solutions, and assessing the impact and sustainability of solutions.
