Covia is looking for a dynamic Polymer Chemist who will have a positive impact on the Applications Development Team in Concord, NC.

The successful incumbent will have the following Key Accountabilities:



  • Proficiently operate and maintain polymer lab equipment
  • Utilize analytical techniques and industrial standards to characterize polymer structure, morphology, and properties
  • Optimize formulations and processing techniques to leverage Covia mineral fillers into various polymer systems
  • Analyze experimental data, interpret results, and prepare detailed technical reports/presentations
  • Maintain accurate records of research data, formulations, and test results.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills
  • Adhere to all laboratory safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  • Providing technical support to sales and production teams
  • Contributing to a cross-functional team that develops IP strategy.
  • Staying up to date on the latest advancements in polymer technology



The successful incumbent will have the following Minimum Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree in polymer science, polymer engineering, material science, chemistry or a relevant degree with 3-5 years of experience in the relevant industry.
  • Extensive experience operating and maintaining polymer processing and characterization equipment.
  • Execution of industry standards and testing methods.
