Join our team as a Technical Operations Supervisor!
The Technical Operations Supervisor will lead the team by managing workloads efficiently, ensuring each team member delivers excellence; Drive technical support and offer training opportunities, fostering an environment of continuous learning and development; Lead process development initiatives, ensuring that our operations remain at the forefront of the industry; and invest in the professional growth of your team by focusing on their development, creating future leaders in the field.
Monday - Friday 8am-4pm Onsite

What you will do
  • Lead with Purpose: Assign tasks strategically and set priorities that inspire your team, ensuring optimal productivity and efficiency across all operations.
  • Drive Success: Take accountability for the team's effectiveness and keep the balance between meeting customer requirements and managing downstream risks, all to deliver outstanding results on schedule.
  • Innovate and Improve: Identify areas of potential growth both independently and collaboratively. Implement improvement measures that support the development of both the department and our valued employees.
  • Own Excellence: Exhibit ownership over all Tech Ops processes and maintain a keen eye on department metrics to ensure ongoing health and success.
  • Collaborate for Impact: Work closely with management and Software Development teams to refine processes and enhance software capabilities, pushing the boundaries of excellence.
  • Elevate Standards: Assist in defining work standards and measures that set the bar high for success and efficiency.
  • Empower the Team: Engage in human resource responsibilities, from recruiting and training to performance management and recognition, fostering a culture of continuous growth and development.
  • Bridge Expertise: Act as a technical liaison between various departments, ensuring seamless communication and collaboration.
  • Be the Go-To Expert: Lead the way in resolving technical issues, becoming the key point person for problem-solving and delivering innovative solutions.
  • Optimize Resources: Assess and suggest the allocation of resources effectively, maximizing both equipment and people to drive success.
  • Design and Approve: Get hands-on with designing molds, analyzing parts, tool pathing, and approving quotes, ensuring high standards of quality and innovation.
  • Champion Safety and Quality: Ensure your team adheres to all quality and safety standards, creating an environment of reliability and trust.
What it takes
  • 2+ years of experience operating CAD software OR 1+ years of experience operating company specific software (PMD, PMQ, FCD)
  • CNC experience and/or knowledge
  • Knowledge and understanding of Proto Labs analysis, design, and toolpathing processes, or the ability to learn quickly
  • Proven experience in a similar role or industry, with demonstrated leadership capabilities.
  • Strong analytical skills and adeptness in problem-solving.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Familiarity with industry-specific processes and technologies.
  • Bachelor's degree in [Related Field] or equivalent experience.
Bonus to have
  • Associate's degree in CAD, Drafting, or Design; Bachelor's degree in engineering and/or Business Administration preferred
  • Previous experience supervising employees
  • PELD completion or other Leadership Certifications

Protolabs offers a competitive total rewards package, and compensation mix vary based on position, such as base wage, as well as other earnings including incentives and commissions. Actual pay offered will vary depending on multiple factors which may include, without limitation, job function, work experience, specialized skills, training, education, and certifications.

Physical Demands:
While performing the essential duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to sit; use a computer keyboard, monitor and mouse, telephone and printer; reach with hands, and arms, talk, see and hear. The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, stoop or kneel and must be able to lift and/or move up to 70 pounds.
Work Environment:
Indoors (A/C); nonsmoking; the majority of this job function is performed in a manufacturing area exposed to machinery and noise; with eye protection and safety shoes required. Occasionally works in outside weather conditions. Occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and in high, precarious places and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate.
