Position Summary

The Pu Lab in the Department of Molecular Genetics and
Microbiology at the University of New Mexico is seeking a highly motivated Research
Tech/Life Science to support ongoing research focused on metabolic
regulation and organelle biology. This position will primarily involve mouse
work, with additional responsibilities in laboratory support and
management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain
    and genotype mouse lines
  • Set up
    and monitor diet-based experiments
  • Perform
    tissue collection
  • Conduct
    histological analyses, including H&E staining and immunohistochemistry
    (IHC)
  • Contribute
    to lab management, ordering, and maintenance. Assist IBC and IACUC
    protocol submission and renewal (approximately 15% effort)
  • Assist
    in mentoring junior lab members and trainees (approximately 15% effort)

Minimum Qualifications

Successful completion of at least 60 college-level credit hours; at least 1 year of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.



Preferred Qualifications

Preferred (but not required) Skills:

  • Cell
    culture and aseptic technique
  • Western
    blotting and molecular cloning
  • Basic
    cell biology and molecular biology technique
  • Bachelor's
    degree in Biochemistry, Biology, or a related life science field
  • Minimum
    of one year of relevant laboratory experience, especially involving animal
    work
  • Strong
    organizational and communication skills
  • Ability
    to work independently and collaboratively in a team setting
