Job Summary
Under minimal supervision, trains Denver Health Paramedic Division employees, Denver Fire Department employees, and members of the public in current pre-hospital emergency medical care theory and technique. Develops, designs, and implements new training courses. Researches and compiles information in instructional area. Accesses and prepares appropriate educational materials.
Essential Functions:
- Assists in the monitoring of progress, needs and effectiveness of the following;
* Paramedic School clinical areas * Paramedic School classroom schedule * Paramedic School syllabus (90%) - Train residents, medical students, and other health care professionals. (10%)
Education:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
Work Experience:
- 1-3 years in advanced life support ambulance experience required.
Licenses:
- BLS-Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) - AHA - American Heart Association or American Red Cross required.
- EMTP-EMT Paramedic - CO - State of Colorado required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Patient Care
* Clinical evaluation and management of emergency medicine and observation care. * Personnel management. * Work-flow and quality improvement. * Knowledge of medical and nursing principals, procedures, and community resources. * Skill in eliciting history from patients, performing physical exams and formulating assessments of and treatment plans for patients. * Ordering appropriate diagnostic studies to aid in diagnosis. * Knowledge of appropriate administration and prescription of medications. * Physical health assessment skills. * Skill in utilizing the principles and practices of effective and persuasive communication to elicit information, negotiate problem resolution, and/or garner support for various programs or policies. * Skill in obtaining information from patients, calming and reassuring patients and motivating patients to accept treatments. Ability to exercise initiative and judgment in selecting proper treatment. * Ability to respond appropriately in emergency situations. * Ability to prepare accurate reports. * Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, other departments and the public.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
