Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit
The UNC Highway Safety Research Center ( HSRC), founded by the North Carolina State Legislature in 1965, works to reduce deaths and injuries on North Carolina's roads and the entire nation. The Center advances these goals across all surface transportation modes through a balanced, interdisciplinary program of research, evaluation, information dissemination, and training. HSRC works with communities and transportation professionals locally, nationally, and worldwide. We are a leader in the field of transportation research, embrace a safe systems approach, and are focused on safety for all.
Position Summary
This position will be responsible for working with five state agencies involved in a pilot project to analyze injury issues; perform needs assessments; provide resources and technical assistance; share injury epidemiology methodologies and injury prevention best practices; and facilitate peer exchanges with the pilot communities.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelor's degree in a discipline related to the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Experience in transportation injury prevention with training in epidemiology, public health, or related field. The candidate needs a firm understanding of state transportation and public health department/agency practices and processes and opportunities for strengthening injury prevention efforts and collaborations.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Professional experience in transportation injury prevention with training in epidemiology, public health, or related field.
