NERC GSP Project Manager (Gen)

Job Summary:

The NERC GSP Project Manager is responsible for overseeing the planning, coordination, and execution of projects to ensure compliance with NERC Reliability Standards at existing solar generation sites. The role focuses heavily on the implementation of PRC-028, PRC-029, and PRC-030, requiring hands-on experience with compliance activities and coordination across technical and regulatory teams. This is a strategic role that bridges regulatory requirements with operational readiness and project execution.

Key Responsibilities:




  • Planning and Scheduling: Develop and maintain detailed project schedules to meet NERC compliance deadlines.



  • Resource Management: Allocate, lead, and coordinate internal and external resources for effective project delivery.



  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all activities adhere to NERC Reliability Standards, with a focus on PRC-028, PRC-029, and PRC-030.



  • Risk Management: Identify project risks and implement mitigation strategies to support compliance objectives.



  • Stakeholder Communication: Serve as the primary liaison between internal teams, regulatory authorities, and other stakeholders to communicate progress and compliance status.



  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of assessments, corrective actions, and equipment capabilities for audit readiness.



  • Training: Deliver training and guidance to team members and stakeholders regarding NERC compliance processes.



  • Continuous Improvement: Recommend and implement process enhancements to streamline compliance and project execution.




Qualifications:




  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.



  • Experience: At least 5 years of project or program management experience, particularly within the renewable energy sector and NERC compliance.



  • Regulatory Expertise: Demonstrated experience with PRC-028, PRC-029, and PRC-030 is essential.



  • Project Management Skills: Proven track record managing multiple compliance-related projects simultaneously.



  • Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with an ability to tailor messages to diverse audiences.



  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical thinking and decision-making capabilities.



  • Certifications: PMP certification preferred.




Key Regulatory Focus Areas:

PRC-028 - Disturbance Monitoring and Reporting:




  • Lead assessments of site equipment capabilities.



  • Guide development of corrective action plans and documentation for compliance.




PRC-029 - Frequency and Voltage Ride-Through:




  • Coordinate site-specific assessments and simulations.



  • Document current capabilities and oversee required improvements to meet standards.




PRC-030 - Unexpected Event Mitigation:




  • Support integration of monitoring solutions and data collection systems to enable event analysis and mitigation compliance.




Work Environment:

The position operates in a fast-paced, multi-disciplinary environment and involves coordination across engineering, regulatory, and field operations teams. Occasional travel to solar generation sites and industry events may be required.
