Community Health Educator (Per Diem)

*Lead and facilitate our popular "Walk and Talk Health" community events where you'll engage with community members answering wellness questions while promoting active lifestyles
*Create and present engaging, visually appealing health education content for various audiences, with opportunities to leverage social media to expand our reach
*Develop and share healthy nutrition guidance through interactive demonstrations and digital content
*Present exercise and nutrition education to seniors through our innovative "Jumpstart Your Health" initiative
*Provide specialized wellness education to firefighters within our hospital catchment area
*Support and contribute to local community Health Fairs with interactive demonstrations and educational materials
*Help develop and implement new program ideas that align with current health trends and community needs
*Lead high-energy group exercise classes as well as mindful movement sessions like stretching and yoga
*Facilitate evidence-based relaxation techniques and stress-reduction exercises
*Perform fitness evaluations and create personalized workout plans for participants

*Bachelor's degree in Health Education, Health Promotion, Nutrition, Nursing, Exercise Science, or Physiology required.
*Certified Health Education Specialist certification (CHES) or American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) certification required.

Experience
*Two years of experience in health education, with a focus on topics such as nutrition, exercise, heart health, stress management, or wellness coaching
*Background or familiarity with:
*Personal training and/or group exercise instruction
*Motivational interviewing and coaching techniques
*Behavior change models and their practical application
*Social media content creation and community engagement
*Experience working in diverse community settings and with varied demographic groups
*Ability to work effectively in a dynamic, evolving environment across multiple locations

Skills and Knowledge
*Knowledge of current disease prevention strategies and wellness approaches
*Digital fluency, including experience with social media platforms, basic content creation, and presentation tools
*Excellent organizational skills with an ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects
*Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to translate complex health information into accessible language
*Multilingual abilities highly preferred (please specify languages in your application)
*Demonstrated creativity and innovation in previous roles or projects
*Ability to connect with diverse audiences and adapt communication style accordingly
*Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative mindset
*Self-motivated with the ability to work independently while contributing effectively to team goals
*Adaptable and comfortable with program evolution and shifting priorities
*Proactive approach to continuously improving services and work processes
