The Role: We are seeking a HSE Technician to join our HSE team in Keokuk, IA. The Health, Safety and Environmental Technician is responsible for performing facility equipment inspections for safety and environmental compliance with internal policies, OSHA and government regulations under the direction of the Head of HSE. This position works with outside agencies for compliance issues and will work directly with managers and employees to facilitate safety and environmental improvements and activities. This position is in our Keokuk, IA location The current salary range for this role is estimated to be $72,390-$96,000 specific compensation offered to a candidate will be influenced by a variety of factors including but not limited to skills, qualifications, experience, and location. What You'll Do: Essential Functions Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. 1. Follow procedures to monitor health, safety and environmental compliance 2. Assist line management in assessing the effectiveness of the department safety and environmental programs and provide recommendations for maintaining/improving their effectiveness 3. Know, apply and document state, OSHA and federal regulations and identify problems and recommend remedies 4. Education, monitor and train personnel in safe work practices 5. Develop and disseminate manuals and documentation around health, safety and environmental issues. 6. Assist line management with the identification and evaluation of high risk hazards and development of measures for their control 7. Develop and maintain a high level of professional competence in the environmental safety and health field 8. Conduct safety audits and ensure training 9. Ensure that HSE records are properly managed in a data management system. 10. Performs other related duties as assigned. What You'll Need: Required Competencies 1. Problem Solving/Analysis. 2. Bachelor's degree in occupational health and safety or other relevant field or equivalent relevant experience. 2. 3-5 years' experience as a safety technician, safety professional or other related field. 3. Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, and HSE software system; Enviance desired. 4. Knowledge of federal, state safety regulations desired 5. Excellent communication skills both oral and written 6. Demonstrated leadership ability 7. Ability to establish written procedures needed to implement safety procedures. Supervisory Responsibility This position does not directly manage employees. Work Environment This job spends approximately 50% of the time in an office environment and 50% of the time in the Plant environment. Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; climb stairs, use hands and fingers to handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms; work in hot, cold and loud environments. Employee must be able to wear a respirator. Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: This is a full time position which may require working flexible non-traditional hours/shift work. Travel Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-area, international and overnight travel may be expected.
