The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills and professional experience.

Job Overview:

The Maintenance Mechanic Trade role handles all aspects of building maintenance and repairs to include but not limited to HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, Painting, Carpentry, and general maintenance.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • 3 years related trade experience in construction, building maintenance

Preferred:

  • Healthcare related experience
  • OSHA Training

Certifications and Licenses Required:

  • Valid New Jersey Driver's License

Scheduling Requirements:

  • Full Time
  • Day Shift

Essential Functions:

  • Correctly and consistently uses hospital computer-based programs to schedule track and close scheduled and unscheduled tasks, order materials, complete performance reviews and document work related issues. Utilizes methods such as two-way radios, smart phones, email to communicate with management work related issues
  • Demonstrated ability to replace steam traps, pressure reducing valves, control valves, hot water, chiller water and steam coils; ability to replace any existing plumbing fixture
  • Demonstrates a knowledge of the various paint finishes and can correctly match existing paint colors and finishes; mix and use epoxy paints
  • Demonstrates ability to correctly identify voltage and current in any electrical panel or device by correctly using ammeters, voltmeters, and other diagnostic equipment, ability to diagnose shorts to ground in motors and other devices, knowledge of emergency power systems and performing monthly tests
  • Demonstrates ability to diagnose correctly problems with AHUs, RTUs, refrigeration units, chilled water, heating water and steams issues as they relate to AHUs and RTUs, including generating devices and terminal devices; building automation system - interpreting graphics and readings, evaluate reading, and correctly modify system set points
  • Demonstrates ability to hang anew door in an existing frame, install hardware. Mount shelves, dispensers, and other similar devices using approved means and methods
  • Demonstrates ability to install sinks onto existing sanitary risers, including the domestic water feeds including the installation of hands-free devices
  • Demonstrates ability to prep flooring, install flooring (VCT, ceramic tile, carpet tile, vinyl cove base), install acoustical ceiling grid and tiles, install wall protection (chair rail, handrails, corner guards and acrovyn), replaced damaged or install new sheet rock and finish work (taped, floated and ready for paint) also to include paint application
  • Demonstrates ability to repair copper pipe up to the size of the available equipment, thread pipe up to size of available equipment, and braze, sweat, solder and use proper devices
  • Demonstrates ability to replace pumps, valves and other fittings of all sizes
  • Demonstrates ability to safely install electrical devices up to and including 480v motors and ability to change rotation on 3 phase motors if required
  • Demonstrates ability to troubleshoot issues with electrical systems such as but not limited to nurse call systems, pneumatic tube systems, automatic doors, automatic gates, TVs and beds
  • Demonstrates ability to use both hand and floor mounted snakes safely
  • Demonstrates refrigeration skills including but not limited to safely evacuating a system, properly recovering all refrigerant, replacement of Schrader valves, leak checking and repair, using gauges to properly replace refrigerant after repair
  • Participates in snow removal as required using snow throwers, snowplows, salt spreaders, skid loaders, manual spreader and shovels
