Summary:
Proactively manages assigned commodities such as raw materials, equipment, tools, parts, supplies, etc., on a global basis, including identifying/developing strategic supplier relationships with industry leaders. Emphasis is on procurement/logistics, cost reduction, technology advances and product development.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Negotiates supply agreements and ensures vendor relations are solid.

Counters price increase demands and prepares strategies for various commodities.

Creates opportunities for CIP savings and delivers year over year cost savings.

Acts as negotiator when supply deliveries default.

Understands the cost structures of the Supplier base.

Ensures the New Product Introduction (NPI) projects are fully support with Procurement roles.

Lead product development activities with key suppliers.

Identify/develop strategic OEM supplier relationships.

Reviews bid proposals and negotiates contracts within budgetary limitations and scope of authority.

Manage cost reduction programs consistent with McQuay's business plan.

Confers with Suppliers to obtain product or service information such as price, availability, and delivery schedule.

Selects products for purchase by testing, observing, or examining items.

Estimates values according to knowledge of market price.

Determines method of procurement such as direct purchase or bid.

Prepares purchase orders or bid requests.

Maintains procurement records such as items or services purchased, costs, delivery, product quality or performance, and inventories.

Discusses defective or unacceptable goods or services with inspection or quality control personnel, users, suppliers, and others to determine source of trouble and take corrective action.

Education/Experience:
A Bachelors degree in Business, Economics, Engineering, or Finance and 7 to 10 years experience in Procurement or related fields; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience with commodities of between $1M & $3M. Composed and presented up to 10 commodity strategies during the last 3 years.
