Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit |
University Communications and Marketing protects and advances Carolina's reputation as the nation's first and best public research university. In partnership with leaders and colleagues across campus, the team is responsible for developing and implementing an integrated strategy to share the impact of our university's teaching, research and service that improves our state, nation and world. Areas within University Communications include Content Strategy, Digital Production, Executive Communications, Issues Management, Marketing, Media Relations, Social Media, Visual Communications,
UNC Creative and the
UNC Visitors Center. |
Position Summary |
Reporting to the Director of Marketing Strategy, the Marketing Coordinator is a key member of the Marketing team providing executional oversight for marketing initiatives. This position will coordinate and manage timelines, planning and documentation, and ensure assets are delivered on-time and within scope. The Marketing Coordinator will efficiently analyze, forecast and report on project metrics. This position will also coordinate efforts of cross-functional project teams and support the development, implementation and refinement of standard marketing processes to increase efficiency and effectiveness. |
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements |
Bachelor's degree in a discipline related to the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions. |
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience |
* Ability to develop and implement marketing plans;
* Ability to think strategically and execute tactically; a mix of strategy and planning and on-the-ground tactical execution is required to be successful in this role.
* Understanding of the full marketing mix across paid, owned and earned channels.
* Ability to work adeptly in a constantly evolving digital environment.
* Exceptional prioritization, problem-solving, and project management skills
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills. |
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience |
* Experience in marketing, brand management or related discipline.
* Experience in higher education, health care or nonprofit marketing.
* Familiarity with the unique challenges and opportunities in marketing for a public research institution. |
