Position Overview
The Research Project Manager will work directly with Maria Hugh as well as collaborate with others at KUCD, including undergraduate and graduate students, faculty, research staff, and postdoctoral fellows. The research project manager will also be a liaison with study participants including teachers, youth with disabilities, and family members of youth with disabilities.

Job Description
The person in this role will be tasked with the following responsibilities:

  • Coordinate development and implementation of study protocols and data management systems to meet project goals and deadlines.
  • Organize study activities such as: recruiting/managing participants, developing IRB materials, tracking study activities and timelines, assisting with training data collectors, and monitoring data collection and analysis activities.
  • Communicate regular project updates and monitor grant resource allocation.
  • Coordinate development of project reports through writing, proofreading and document lay-out.
  • Communicate with funders and coordinate with national and state experts to organize presentations and knowledge-sharing.
15%
  • Supervise research team members in project planning, data collection tasks, information dissemination such as professional writing and presentations, and performing clerical tasks as assigned.

  • Manage entry of project data into federal data collection systems as needed, including developing and maintaining databases to facilitate effective program evaluation processes and support annual tracking and reporting requirements funding sources.
  • Maintain knowledge of IRB requirements and collaborate with KU IRB office to adhere to project protocols.

  • Manage additional project activities as needed, such as administrative tasks (scheduling meetings using Outlook or Doodle polls, organizing and sharing meeting notes); supporting travel arrangements for project staff.

Required Qualifications
  1. Bachelor's degree in education (including special education), psychology (including clinical psychology), health and social sciences, disability studies, or related area with minimum of four (4) years of related professional experience, OR Master's degree in education (including special education), psychology (including clinical psychology), health and social sciences, disability studies, or related area with minimum of one (1) year of related professional experience.
  2. Excellent organizational skills as evidenced in application materials.
  3. Previous work experience that required attention to detail, as evidenced by application materials
  4. Previous work experience that required the use of administrative skills, as evidenced by application materials
  5. Three (3) years of experience using multiple types of computer software and websites (e.g., Microsoft Office suite, Google Drive, Adobe Acrobat, Mail Chimp, Survey Monkey) as demonstrated by application materials and work experience.
  6. Experience with data management, analysis or storage systems (e.g., Excel, SPSS, Qualtrics, RedCap) as evidenced by application materials.
  7. Experience working with more than one project at a time as evidenced by application materials.

Preferred Qualifications
  1. Experience working with people with disabilities (including autism spectrum disorder) or their families as evidenced by application materials.
  2. Experience working with state agencies in Kansas (e.g. Kansas Department of Aging and Disability Services, Kansas Department of Education) as evidenced by application materials.
  3. Student and staff management skills as evidenced by application materials.
  4. Communications experience, including development of materials to support study activities such as recruitment, protocols, and dissemination products as evidenced by application materials.
  5. Strong interest in research on implementation science, psychology, education, disability as indicated by application materials.
