JMT is seeking a Construction Management Intern for their Sylva, North Carolina Office to apply standard inspection procedures to ongoing activities during and after construction for structural quality, general safety and conformance to plans, specifications and codes. This position is not eligible for employer based sponsorship with the exception of the TN visa classification.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities



  • Perform inspection of contractor's operations on a variety of transportation projects including roadway and bridge construction to verify conformance to plans and specifications.
  • Performs routine material testing
  • Measure and track quantities of pay items
  • Gathers and maintains record documents including material certifications, testing reports, and inspector's daily diaries
  • Perform other related duties as assigned


Nonessential Functions and Responsibilities



  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Required Skills

  • Must successfully complete and pass JMT's Motor Vehicle screening

Required Experience

  • High school graduate or college student enrolled (or intending to enroll)
  • Active driver's license


Preferred Experience



  • Coursework in related field
  • Previous internship experience


Working Conditions

Work is performed in the field. Ability to extensively perform bending, kneeling, standing, shoveling, and lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 25 lbs as needed. Work may be conducted outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions.
