Summary of Job Duties:The Mobile Grocery Store Driver is responsible for operating and driving a specialized 1.5 ton truck and 44ft gooseneck trailer designed to deliver fresh fruits, vegetables, and other grocery items directly to customers at pre-selected sites on a designated route. The role involves driving the vehicle, picking up inventory, providing customer service, and maintaining the cleanliness of the truck and trailer. The Mobile Grocery Store Driver will ensure that customers receive items in a timely manner while maintaining safety and efficiency on the road. The Grocery Store Driver reports to the Director of the University District. This position is governed by state and federal laws, and agency/institution policy. Qualifications:

Required Education and/or Experience:

  • Valid "Class A" Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with a clean driving record;
  • The formal education equivalent of a high school diploma;
  • Proven experience driving a commercial vehicle.

Preferred Education and/or Experience:

  • Experience with large trucks or specialty vehicles;
  • Two or more years of experience in a delivery-based business;
  • Experience with loading and delivering grocery products.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Operate a mobile grocery store vehicle to deliver groceries to designated locations;
  • Ensure the safety and proper functioning of the vehicle by conducting pre-trip and post-trip inspections;
  • Safely transport groceries, maintain cleanliness, and pick up products from vendors as necessary;
  • Provide outstanding customer service to build positive relationships with regular customers.
  • Maintain vehicle cleanliness and vehicle safety standards;
  • Follow traffic laws and safety policies at all times while driving;
  • Coordinate with other team members to ensure timely on-site setup and stock replenishment.
  • Report any issues with the vehicle promptly;
  • Schedule regular maintenance and repairs;
  • Coordinate with staff to plan and manage the schedule and routes for the mobile grocery store to ensure timely and efficient

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality;
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
  • Strong leadership and team management skills;
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment;
  • Ability to bend, stoop, and move products in and out of the vehicle;
  • Flexibility with some evenings and weekends as required based on the mobile grocery store's operating schedule.
