Position Overview:

This role will collaborate with the Project Manager, Project Architect and Interior Design Manager regarding interior design. Project types may be varied but will focus primarily on DoD (Department of Defense).

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Work and collaborate with the Project Manager, Project Architect and Managing Interior Designer on the interior design and space planning for design projects with a focus on Federal sector work.
  • Daily duties will likely include aiding project architect with:
    • Building finish specifications.
    • Drawings include but not limited to finish schedules, interiors details, floor plans, finish plans, signage schedules, ceiling plans, etc.
    • Working with and managing data from furniture manufacturers and product reps.
    • Acting as the main point of contact for interior design.
    • Programming and facilitating client interviews.
  • Assemble Interior Design finish materials packages:
    • Selecting materials and color selections based on project-specific criteria.
    • Generating interior design narratives for finish concepts
    • Collect product cut sheets and develop specification criteria
    • Assembling/updating materials presentation binders for submittal to the client
  • Assemble FF&E packages:
    • Participate in on-site Client interviews to discuss FF&E requirements.
    • Making furniture, accessory and equipment selections based on project-specific criteria and requirements.
    • Work with furniture dealers to evaluate costs and provide the best value determination to the Government.
    • Assembling detailed FF&E packages that include cost data, client/project-specific product data sheets, furniture drawings and FF&E finishes.
    • Assembling furniture plans, panel plans and other appropriate furniture drawings.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Interior Design from a CIDA-accredited Interior Design program required.
  • NCIDQ certification.
  • Minimum 3+ years' experience in interior design required, preferably in tenant, FF&E, & DoD.
  • Experience selecting and evaluating FF&E packages to include selections and evaluation preferred.
  • US Citizenship required, as this position requires access to a US Military base, which is restricted to US Citizens only.
  • Experience as the main point of contact for interior design and being able to present design concepts.
  • Experience working with furniture dealers and product reps required.
  • Space planning and code compliance experience.
  • Experience in developing construction documents as they pertain to the interior design.
  • Knowledge of finish materials and creating material specifications.
  • Drafting experience using Revit (BIM) and/or AutoCAD required.
  • Experience working directly with clients and prospective clients with the ability to adapt to changing project requirements.
  • Proficiency with MS Word, MS Excel, Bluebeam software required.
  • Willingness to travel for field assessments and client meetings, out of state. Flexibility to travel/be on site, that may range 1-2 weeks depending on the project, is preferred.
