Responsibilities
POSITION SUMMARY: Performs the primary function of an HIM Physician Liaison regarding the Chart Completion process. The HIM Physician Liaison shall work as part of a team with physicians, dictation specialist, and analyst in medical record completion and accuracy. Physician Liaison will perform current and retrospective analysis on records to ensure the accuracy/integrity of the medical record according to the department policy, Joint Commission and/or any federal or state regulatory. These findings will be presented to Medical Staff Committees. The HIM Physician Liaison is responsible for interacting with physicians, hospital staff and/or ancillary departments regarding medical record and reports needed for completion. Physician Liaison will oversee the analyzing of medical records, the contract service for the dictating of Discharge Summaries, and the Suspension Process. Performs merging of duplicate medical record/fin numbers in the Master Patient Index database and Electronic Health Record. Qualifications QUALIFICATIONS: 1. 2-3 years experience in medical records or healthcare related field, preferred. 2. Knowledge of medical terminology preferred. 3. Interpersonal skills required. 4. Knowledge of computers, copy machine, microfilm and reader printer preferred 5. A valid Texas Driver's License; safe driving skills; the ability to safely operate company vehicles. 6. Flexible to travel to other facilities. 7. Must demonstrate commitment and adherence to STHS's Compliance Program and Code of Conduct through compliance with all policies and procedures, the Code of Conduct, attendance at required training and immediately reporting suspected compliance issue(s) to the Compliance Officer. EDUCATION / LICENSURE: 1. High School diploma, GED, or Higher Education required. 2. Associates degree in HIM/ Healthcare related field, preferred.
