The Radiology Technologist Assistant performs a variety of routine duties including clerical, technical and patient related functions. The Technologist Assistant is responsible for assisting technologist with a broad range of health care services such as: patient check-in, exam review, preparation for the visit, patient education, assistance with exams and procedures, and patient transporting. The Radiology Technologist Assistant is trained to use a wide variety of radiographic equipment, computers, and software.

Primary Responsibilities:



  • Assist patients by escorting to/from imaging or dressing areas, post procedure cleaning, dressing and aiding technologist in communication, instruction, and direction
  • Assist in placement and removal of patients on or near imaging equipment
  • Assist technologist in the preparation of patients and exam rooms by organizing supplies, linens and equipment, and pre/post procedure clean up
  • Assist technologists with the coordination of patient exam by communicating with referring areas and confirming exam times, as well as preparation and coordinating patient throughput thru the utilization of RIS
  • Assist technologists by organizing documents, ensuring prior exam information is available, screening documents are complete, and preparing test results thru the utilization of the EMR, RIS and PACS
  • Assists technologists with supply inventories, orders, and stocking with the aid of Outlook and Microsoft word/Excel
  • Assist patients by escorting them to and from the Radiologist for post procedure results
  • Assist technologists by preparing biopsy specimens for laboratory transport and adhering to all required chain of custody procedures throughout transport
  • Assist technologists in power up/power down of all necessary medical imaging equipment for use throughout the day
  • Assist technologists in PACS CD uploads of relevant prior imaging brought in by patients
  • Perform other various related duties as necessary to assist in patient care

Required Qualifications:



  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions
  • Ability to effectively communicate with patients, visitors, and employees within the organization
  • Ability to adequately use, or learn to use, the department's computerized system and its associated devices


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Healthcare or radiology experience



Physical Demands:



  • Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time
  • Must be able to lift and carry items weighting up to 50 pounds
  • Must be able to lift patients weighting up to 300 pounds and place them in appropriate positions for
  • operation of equipment
  • Requires eyesight correctable to 20/20 to operate equipment and review exams

The hourly range for this role is $16.00 to $24.42 per hour based on full-time employment. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
