JOB SUMMARY The Director of Financial Clinical Service will support the O'Donnell Brain Institute in multidisciplinary areas to plan, organize, direct and lead financial operations of Neurosciences which includes Neurology, Neurosurgery, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, and Psychiatry. This will include providing strategic financial leadership and direction to senior leadership. The ideal candidate will provide healthcare care experience in financial planning and analyses, budgeting, billing, coding, accounting, and reporting functions as UT Southwestern continues to grow with new programs to provide the best care for our patients. EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION Required
- Education
Master's Degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or Management.
- Experience
8 years of management and progressively responsible financial experience in an academic medical center, hospital, or clinic environment, including experience managing extramural research projects, and Supervisory/managerial experience A Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or Management may be considered in lieu of Master's degree, along with an additional 2 years of directly related experience
JOB DUTIES
- Develop and maintain operating budgets for all aspects of the Service Line/Department clinical services and/or programs relative to clinical care, academic, and research operations (where applicable).
- Develop and manage the financial infrastructure needed to support the Clinical Service Line.
- Work collaboratively with other respective Finance teams regarding budgeting/planning/reconciliation of endowment support for clinically based service line programs.
- Work collaboratively with Health System planning, leadership and Clinical Service Line leadership to develop and monitor the financial components and performance metrics of the strategic plan for the department/service line.
- Work collaboratively with appropriate academic and clinical managers to develop and maintain appropriate reports reflecting comprehensive service line activities.
- Support Clinical Service Line/Department in all aspects of clinic financial operations, including billing, coding and revenue collections.
- Coordinate and review the monthly income statements for Clinical Service Line/programs and related operations.
- Develop a system to enable multi-departmental review and reconciliation of jointly appointed and/or budgeted personnel.
- Develop and maintain proactive systems to monitor clinic/program and overall neurosciences expenditures, including M&O and staffing related expenses.
- Develop strategies to sustain and improve the financial performance of clinical operations.
- Develop and oversee the creation of monthly and ad hoc financial reports. Review monthly financial operations with senior leadership, faculty and shared resource directors.
- Oversee all institutional compliance and audits associated with financial affairs across clinical services.
- Oversee all administrative functions that support the financial operations, such as payroll and timesheet processing, dues/membership approvals and purchasing requirements. Advise administrative staff of new requirements or developments related to financial affairs.
- Supervise subordinate manager(s) and other professional personnel. Provide leadership and direction to the financial operations of department shared resources.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
