Research Specialist

This position supports the Central Midwest Climate Opportunities and Learning (CM CO-Learn) team, a multidisciplinary group working on community-engaged approaches to climate resilience with women landowners and tribal communities in Iowa, Nebraska, Kansas, and Missouri. This position will require a combination of traditional scientific approaches with best practices in community engagement.

Duties:

• Conduct applied research at the interface of community members priorities and their access to, or uptake of, tools for decision support, data translation and/or visualization,
• Co-create research projects with tribal communities and/or women landowners that use climate data and/or existing tools for decision-support
• Co-produce climate adaptation planning among communities and researchers
• Conduct policy analysis

The successful candidate will support the implementation and growth of the CM CO-Learn team across the region and help the team expand emerging research portfolios in the areas of conservation, environmental monitoring and data sovereignty, climate adaptation planning, food sovereignty, or policy and advocacy.

Required qualifications:

• PhD in a relevant discipline
• Experience with climate data and translation to a public audience

Desirable qualifications:

• Experience with community engaged research
• Experience working with sovereign tribal nations

Rate of pay: $33.65 per hour

Work hours: 8 am - 5 pm
