General Summary: This is a 2-year appointment that serves as a research trainee for the purpose of enhancing and developing research and drug development competencies. In this appointment, the postdoctoral researcher will be responsible for providing synthetic chemistry support for small molecule drug discovery and medicinal chemistry optimization. The researcher will participate in designing and conducting highly technical synthetic chemical operations under the supervision of a senior scientist and will analyze research data, provide interpretations, contribute to the development of research documentation for publications and provide technical reports and records.
Key Responsibilities
Synthesizes, purifies, and fully characterizes compounds for the assigned projects.
Participates in designing and conducting highly technical and complex research projects under the direction of a supervisor.
Develops structure-activity relationships under the direction of a supervisor.
Maintains accurate and clean E-notebooks with detailed procedures and proper analytical data attached.
Identifies compiles and evaluates data sources, background information and technology related to the area of specialization.
Attends and presents regular progress updates for the assigned projects.
Contributes to progress reports, patent applications and publications derived from project data.
Operates and maintains scientific equipment.
Maintains external awareness of scientific discipline through familiarity with current scientific literature.
Implements and observes when applicable appropriate safety and study requirements by reading, understanding, and following Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), Good Laboratory Practice (GLP).
Requirements/Minimum Qualifications
PhD in Organic or Medicinal Chemistry
