About the Job

The Education Program Associate Hourly Temp/Casual position will be responsible for the following activities:

  • Provide feedback and input on Ag Education program planning and curriculum. [4-6 hours/spring semester]
  • Manage the Ag Mechanics space for AECM to include ordering building materials and other supplies needed for AECM 2051 and AECM 3051, ensuring the space meets safety codes for student use. [40-50 hours/spring semester & summer]
  • Promote AECM programs and events at career fairs and teacher professional conferences. [6-8 hours/spring semester & summer, as needed]
  • Participate in AECM faculty and staff meetings monthly. [4-6 hours/spring semester]
  • Assist with the State FFA convention and UMN Invitationals developing tests for Best Informed Greenhand, Ag Mechanics CDE, and other events as needed). [15-20 hours/spring semester]

*This will be a casual (14 hours or less per week) position. The position will run through August 10, 2025 with a possibility of rehire on December 22, 2025-August 9, 2026.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • BA with at least 2 years of experience or a combination of related education and work experience equal to six years. Prior experience teaching Ag Mechanics courses at the university level.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Excellent communication skills for a variety of audiences. Demonstrated knowledge of building materials and safety protocols required for the courses.

Agricultural Education, Communication and Marketing is an administrative unit within the College of Food, Agricultural and Natural Resource Sciences (CFANS). Committed to serving students since 1910, the AECM program strives to prepare quality agricultural educators, communicators, and leaders in public and private sectors. The program includes undergraduate majors in Agricultural Communication & Marketing and in Agricultural Education - Teacher Licensure. Graduate programs include Ph.D., M.S. and M.Ed. programs. Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $26.00-$28.00 per hour; depending on education/qualifications/experience.
