These positions independently perform student service and financial aid processing duties and may serve as EMCC's Veteran Affairs Financial Aid liaison. Essential Functions 30% - Performs more technically complex and difficult student service and processing; Identifies resources needed to address students' circumstances and potential barriers; Assists students by walk-in, electronically and over the phone and as elevated by other student services staff. 30% - Processes aid for assigned students. Provides information and technical assistance regarding program guidelines and applicable laws, policies, rules and regulations, may supervise part-time staff. Independently processes various student appeals utilizing professional judgement guidelines 20% - Troubleshoots and resolves office service issues which may include computer software problems; Prepares and processes reports, tracks processing and completion; May administer programs such as scholarships, loans, federal work study and Pell grants; Coordinates, performs testing, and maintains database information and reporting systems 20% - Prepares, presents, designs and maintains correspondence, reports, presentations, program materials and documentation; Provides training to other staff; Coordinates office functions, projects, events and processing; Coordinates workflow and develops policies and procedures; Researches and assists in analyzing and interpreting guidelines and regulations; Performs other duties as assigned commensurate to the grade level of the position. Minimum Qualifications Associate's Degree from a regionally accredited institution and two (2) years of full-time equivalent student services or college teaching experience or experience assisting with educational program development and coordination, student advisement, financial aid, or related student development programs. OR High school diploma/GED and four (4) years of full-time equivalent student services or college teaching experience or experience assisting with educational program development and coordination, student advisement, financial aid, or related student development programs. An equivalent combination of the conferred degree and directly related full-time work experience as described above sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation, may be considered . Desired Qualifications A. Experience performing student service or processing in a Financial Aid department. B. Experience maintaining, applying and communicating federal regulations and guidelines. C. Experience with an automated student service and processing system such as PeopleSoft. D. Experience providing general and escalated Financial Aid assistance to students and others via phone, email, live chat, in person, etc. Special Working Conditions Must not be in default or owe an overpayment of federal financial aid funds.
