Job Description:

Trinity University is seeking a Part-Time Faculty for the Fall 2025 semester to teach First Year Experience 1600 - Being Young in Asia.

The Trinity University First Year Experience (FYE) is a signature, interdisciplinary program designed to support the academic and personal growth of first-year students. Offered as a 6-credit, five-day-a-week course, the FYE combines two integrated components: a discussion seminar and a writing workshop. Instructors for each component co-teach the course (two days per week each), with the fifth day devoted to a Common Learning Experience involving guest lectures, student success sessions, and cultural activities. The theme of the course is "Being Young in Asia."

This posting is for the Discussion Seminar Instructor. The Discussion Seminar emphasizes student-led inquiry, critical reading and thinking, and effective communication. Through guided discussions, multimedia presentations, and collaborative projects, students gain confidence in articulating ideas, analyzing diverse perspectives, and presenting their original work.

BACKGROUND

The First-Year Experience is a team-taught course designed to instruct students in how to analyze and discuss academic texts and ideas, and to produce college-level academic writing and presentations. Courses in a wide variety of topics are available, led by faculty topic coordinators.
