General Job Description:

A Building Engineer is responsible for the comprehensive operation, maintenance, and repair of all mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems within a high-end commercial building, ensuring optimal functionality, energy efficiency, and compliance with safety regulations, often requiring advanced technical knowledge and the ability to troubleshoot complex issues, while collaborating with property management and contractors to maintain the building's pristine condition.

Supervises: Vendors and Contractors

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Responsible for a wide variety of general building maintenance repairs and services including but not limited to electrical/lighting, plumbing, doors and hardware, painting, security, IT, HVAC, landscaping, building inspections, and general office repairs. Coordinate and meet with contractors, vendors, security, and property managers to coordinate work and maintain building integrity.



  • Conduct Building Inspections at HQ in Pasadena: Complete daily building walks, survey equipment from roof to basement to identify possible issues (i.e. leaks, light replacements, etc.). Provide oversite of Fire Life Safety inspections and Elevator inspections.
  • Contact building vendors to coordinate repairs including but not limited to: HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, Landscaping, Security, etc.
  • Building HVAC Controls- Be familiar and able to adjust zones and/or temperature as required or per requests.
  • IT Building support: Coordinate with the IT Department and install computer hardware, cabling and/or hang monitors and TVs as needed.
  • Security: Coordinate and resolve service-related issues with onsite Security Company.
  • Building Repair: Lighting replacement, interior/exterior lighting, and parking lot lights. Door and Hardware Repair, metal/wood, closers, hinges, sweeps, etc.
  • Painting, plaster, drywall and wallpaper repair, interior and exterior jobs. Ceiling tile replacement, changing water filters, window cleaning, installation of
  • Bulletin boards, hanging pictures and installing carpet tiles.
  • Furniture repair, drawers, adjustments, assembly.
  • Moving items as needed (i.e. furniture, file cabinets, boxes, etc.)
  • Sets up tables and chairs in conference and training rooms.
  • Clean up and keep various meeting rooms organized.
  • Appliance and equipment installation (refrigerator, microwaves, toasters, etc.).
  • Reports on all maintenance problems to Property Manager.
  • Assist Mailroom as needed: Delivery of office and building supplies to the correct departments and locations. Deliver packages, organize mailroom/supply room. Assist when parts need to be returned. This includes boxing up items, having correct paperwork and managing small outbound packages.
  • Respond to the offices on/off hours to deal with emergencies as they arise.
  • Other duties that may be assigned by Facilities Manager or Property Management.


Position Requirements (Skills, Work Experience, Education, Certifications, Licenses, etc.):



  • 5+ Years of Building Maintenance Experience
  • HVAC design or technical school training preferred
  • Technical expertise: Thorough understanding of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and building automation systems.
  • Problem-solving abilities: Excellent diagnostic and troubleshooting skills to identify and resolve complex building system issues.
  • Mechanical aptitude: Ability to perform hands-on maintenance and repairs on various building equipment.
  • Building codes knowledge: Familiarity with local building codes and safety regulations.
  • Computer proficiency: Ability to use building automation systems, maintenance management software, and other relevant computer applications.
  • Communication skills: Effective communication with tenants, property management, and contractors to address concerns and coordinate maintenance activities

  • Work at elevated heights

Competitive Wages:

$65,000 to $88,750.00 Annual Salary. Applicants please note that actual compensation is determined by several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to job-related skills, depth of experience, certifications, relevant education or training, and specific work location, among others. The offered wage or salary is only one aspect of an employee's total compensation.
