JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS: The Office of Budget & Finance is seeking to hire a Financial Officer to currently support Penn State's Smeal College of Business. This position will provide leadership in management of financial and budget execution matters for the organization. This position reports to the Director of Financial Officers but will work closely with the Dean of the Smeal College of Business. The primary duty of this role is to maintain sound financial operations across multiple fund types through internal controls and financial and budgetary stewardship while providing service to the dean in meeting the unit's vision and goals through strategic analysis, process improvement and policy/procedural development. Minimally requires a Bachelor's degree, plus ten years of relevant experience, including three years of supervisory experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience with research administration is preferred. Due to the financial or fiduciary responsibilities for his position, successful completion of a credit history check will be required in addition to a standard background check. This position offers a flexible work arrangement that combines remote and on-campus work. Questions related to flexible work should be directed to the hiring manager during the interview process. This position currently supports the Smeal College of Business; however, this assignment could change in the future. Penn State is embarking on a project to restructure the University's financial functions to move towards a centralized, service hub-based structure. This position is intended to initially support the unit(s) and functions listed in this posting; however, it is expected to evolve over time relative to the overall restructuring.
