Position Description:

The University of Iowa, Department of Surgery, Division of Acute Care Surgery invites applicants for one (1) full-time faculty position in the areas of Trauma, Emergency General Surgery, and Surgical Critical Care. Appointment will be for Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor in either the non-tenure clinical track or tenure track consistent with experience and research interest.

Successful candidates will be required to self-disclose any misconduct history or pending research misconduct investigation including but not limited to sexual misconduct in prior employment and provide a related release and will be subject to a criminal background and credential check.



Education Requirement:


  • Candidates must hold an MD, DO, or equivalent degree, have completed ACGME accredited training in all phases of General Surgery.
  • Completion of a fellowship in Acute Care Surgery or Trauma/Critical Care is required.


Required Qualifications:


  • Applicants for the position will need to demonstrate effective interpersonal and communication skills, be committed to ongoing performance improvement, and to providing care as a member of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Applicants with established research are preferred and appointment to the tenure track requires research experience at a level which enables procurement of outside funding.
  • Teaching and participation in outreach activities are integral to the positions.


Certifications:


  • Candidates must possess board eligibility/certification from the American Board of Surgery.
  • Board certification/eligibility in Surgical Critical Care is required.


Desirable Qualifications:


  • Dedication to enhancing an inclusive workforce and academic environment is desired.
