Job Overview

The Production Scheduler I is an entry-level role responsible for assisting in the creation and maintenance of production schedules. This role involves coordinating with various departments to ensure that materials, labor, and equipment are available to meeting production demands. The scheduler works under close supervision, following established procedures to update schedules and communicate changes to relevant stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ability to assist in the creation and maintenance of production schedules using scheduling software and spreadsheets.
  • Coordinate with productions, materials, and logistics teams to ensure alignment of schedules with available resources.
  • Accurately update and maintain production schedules, tracking changes and communicating effectively.
  • Communicate schedule changes and updates to team members and supervisor clearly and promptly.
  • Manage time effectively to meet deadlines and keep production on track.
  • Manage customer ship date requests, which includes schedule improvement and move-out requests.
  • Monitor and maintain administrative routers, including project specific details, in order to preserve customer expectations.
  • Adjust dates in the master production schedule (MPS) based on vendor delivery dates and anticipated delays to projects.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of mix/model sequencing while performing scheduling duties.
  • Report weekly performance measurements, as assigned.
  • Take an active role in continuous improvement within the department and company.
  • Must demonstrate a service-oriented, professional attitude and appearance towards all internal and external customers/situations.
  • Become familiar with lead times on special buyout items and standard items, and interface with purchasing regularly.
  • Familiarity with all processes from order entry to shipping an order complete to assist with assigning router dates.
  • Must be cross-trained and able to support all Scheduler I roles.

Required Skills and Qualifications

Essential Qualifications

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); normally has some post-secondary education, Associates or Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • 1 to 3 years of manufacturing experience
  • 1 to 3 years of general business experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience with the following software

  • Microsoft Office Suite (required)
  • Epicor (preferred)
  • 3D Pro (preferred)
  • AS400 (preferred)
  • MRPII (preferred)

Work Environment

Mostly an office environment with occasional visits to the manufacturing floor (proper PPE must be worn on manufacturing floor).

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

Rare. One per year at most for training and development.
