The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Position Summary

Reporting to the Director, the Senior Associate Director plays a key role in delivering Lang Center initiatives and builds strategic relationships. This role oversees several high-profile programs, manages strategic partnerships, and strengthens the Center's connection to alumni and the broader entrepreneurial and venture capital ecosystem. responsible for overseeing programming at the Lang Center, managing venture capital and entrepreneurial initiatives for both students and alumni, as well as to develop strategic third-party partnerships. The SAD will also focus on continually fostering and strengthening relationships with alumni and the broader NYC entrepreneurial ecosystem throughout all efforts and communications.

The mission of The Eugene Lang Entrepreneurship Center is to instill entrepreneurial thinking in all Columbia Business School students and alumni, in order to create a community of business practitioners with a lifelong commitment to achieving social and economic progress through entrepreneurship. Columbia's approach to developing the entrepreneurial mindset is integrated throughout the core MBA curriculum, crossing all disciplines, and extends to both students and alumni through co-curricular programming, coaching, and other support.

Responsibilities

Program Management and Execution




  • Leads the successful planning, promotion, execution, and evaluations of Lang Center programs and events, in collaboration with the Center team. Programs may include, but are not limited to:




    • The Columbia Venture Fellows program, a two-year experiential program for students dedicated to pursuing a career in VC.



    • The Lang Fund - overseeing the fund operations in conjunction with the Lang Faculty Director, Lang team, and the Lang Fund investment committee.



    • The Columbia Startup Lab - managing admissions to this cross-university alumni founder co-working space in Soho.



    • Alumni programs and major events such as the virtual accelerator, demo days, venture showcases, networking nights, etc.






Strategic Partnerships




  • Develops and manages relationships with third-party entities, such as corporations, government entities, and universities, that generate revenue, streamline operations, and enhance program offerings.



  • Identifies and secures partnership opportunities through practice outreach and ecosystem engagement.




Community and Alumni Engagement




  • Builds and maintains strong relationships with alumni and leaders in the NYC entrepreneurial community and beyond.



  • Promotes CBS as a hub for entrepreneurial activity and enhances the Lange Center's brand and visibility through outreach and collaboration.




General Administration




  • Supports other Lang Center programs and priorities as needed, including faculty and student initiatives.



  • Participates in Center-wide activities and projects; serves as a collaborative team player and contributes to the overall success of the unit.



  • Performs other related duties and special projects as required.




Minimum Qualifications



  • Bachelor's degree required. Minimum 4 years of related experience required.
  • Must possess strong management and communication skills, as well as direct experience working with entrepreneurs or within the entrepreneurial/VC ecosystem.
  • Independent, strategic mindset with a detail-oriented work ethic required.
  • The candidate must have the ability to meet deadlines and exercise sound judgment working with all levels of staff, faculty, alumni, students, and outside partners.
  • Must have experience with Microsoft Office and web tools.
  • Must possess a high level of initiative, enthusiasm, and commitment, including a demonstrated interest in and passion for the startup ecosystem.
