Special Conditions of Employment: Satisfactory criminal history background check UCSB Campus Security Authority under Clery Act UCSB is a Tobacco-Free environment Misconduct Disclosure Requirement: 60% Media Center Communication - As a member of the Creative Media Unit (CMU), and under the direction of the Associate Director of Technology and Strategic Communication, they are responsible for the development and coordination of the activities of the Media Center. Provides information and interpretation of policies on the use of the Center and its varied resources. Creates and implements new initiatives for the growth and development of the Center. Student services of the Media Center include loan of media equipment, weekly workshops, UCSB TV weekly news broadcasts, AS group meetings, lab computer use, and more. These services are available for utilization by the entire undergraduate and graduate student body. Oversees the Media Center equipment loan program. This includes identifying student needs for various equipment and researching and staying up to date on cameras, microphones, and other media equipment. In coordination with the CMU, makes recommendations regarding new equipment purchases and replacements. Tests and maintains these items over their life cycle. Maintains a comprehensive inventory of equipment. Trains front desk students in equipment use and check-out procedures. In conjunction with other Annex staff, oversees daily work and projects of Annex student staff. Ensures that a program of workshops is established each quarter on a variety of topics including but not limited to graphic design, media software programs, photography, and other areas of interest to students. Researches and recruits potential staff and student presenters and facilitates logistics needed. Conducts various workshops on photography and serves as a resource to students for consultation and further training. Outreaches to other areas of campus as needed to develop the Center and maintains relationships with campus stakeholders and equipment vendors. Works with department graphic artists to develop flyers and descriptions of workshops. Develops comprehensive advertising plan for the Media Center activities. Updates the Media Center web page to reflect workshop offerings. Is available to present workshops on a variety of topics. Stays abreast of software trends and consults with other media professionals to determine most useful programs to serve the students needs. Learns new programs as needed in order to provide training to others. Provides consultation and training for students on photography and videography projects. Advises the UCSB TV student group (part of the CMU). Assists them in navigating the structure of the university, spending money, and a variety of technical aspects. Trains students on set-up and broadcasting techniques. Provides resources for students seeking further training in this area. Helps train students in the Adobe Creative Suite among other software packages. Maintains a "Learning Center" component of the Creative Media website to better help students discover resources related to multimedia education. Supervises student photographers and videographers as part of the Creative Media Unit. Works in conjunction with the Senior Artist and the student designers they supervise to deliver projects as assigned. 25% Facility Management - Recommends and implements changes to policy regarding use of the AS Annex space. Maintains the space to provide a welcome environment conducive to learning. Recommends a budget for the Annex each year. This also encompasses any possible plan regarding expansion/remodeling of the space. Provides oversight and management of the Annex space including working with physical facilities and coordinating with student groups that utilize the space. Oversees scheduling of studio space with students, campus groups and staff. Coordinates control of physical access to the space by maintaining lists of students/staff who require off-hours entry to the building. In support of the AS Pardall Center, will serve as the secondary support for the Pardall Center. Additional responsibilities include support and maintenance of keyed and keyless door access systems for the entire department. 10% Special Projects - Development of space and campus-wide initiatives related to multimedia learning and creative expression. Seeks out and applies for grants, sponsorships, etc. regarding multimedia educational opportunities and equipment. Research into archival processes for the organization. Coordinate between units and areas regarding making older materials (such as minutes, posters, photographs and more) available to the association and the wider community. 5% External Communication - Acts as the social media coordinator for the Annex space and services. Coordinates with the student social media coordinator to sync messaging across platforms. Secondary advisor (behind the Senior Artist) for the Creative Media Unit.
