Job Description

The Leave Administrator will manage all leave of absence processes and provide support and guidance in the development and effective administration of the programs, policies, and procedures. This position is responsible for responding to employee inquiries in a timely, accurate, and effective manner. The position is responsible for documenting and communicating any necessary actions to the appropriate party(s) and updating HR, talent relations and management, as necessary. This position follows all established procedures to provide a high level of customer service to all inquiries. The position will handle sensitive or complex processes, and work closely with subject matter experts, as appropriate. This position will also concentrate a portion of their time on the continued improvement of leave of absence processes, utilizing and leveraging automation and technology.

Essential Functions:

  • Administers and manages the leave of absence programs and processes.
  • Interprets FMLA, STD, LTD, workers compensation, and ADAAA plans, programs, policies and procedures for employees and provides advice and recommendation for remediation of escalated issues and plan / process improvements.
  • Conducts billing reconciliation and processes, tracks, and invoices benefit premium payments to all employees on a continuous leave of absence.
  • Follows up with department representatives as necessary to ensure resolution of problems involving incomplete, inaccurate, or non-compliant documentation.
  • Completes human resources related transactions utilizing various systems: HRIS, Employee Relations case management system, and vendor systems as required.
  • Maintains and updates documentation tracking systems and databases; ensures proper recording, approval, and filing/disposal of all documents received in accordance with established policies and procedural guidelines.
  • Analyzes LOA programs and plans from a variety of HR disciplines to optimize and re-engineer for streamlined effectiveness and reduce administrative burden.

Work Experience:

  • Two years previous experience working in human resources or insurance or benefits administration, or related field required.

Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent, required. Associate or bachelor's degree in business administration, human resources, or related field, preferred.


Responsibilities

Advises team members and leaders on human resources policies and procedures. Supports various human resources department projects. Maintain compliance with federal and state regulations concerning employment. Prepares and audits new and current team member personnel files. Administers and manages the leave of absence programs and processes. Follows up with department representatives as necessary to ensure resolution of problems involving incomplete, inaccurate, or non-compliant documentation. Receives, verifies, and enters individual data/documentation into the Human Resources Information System. Protects organization's value by keeping information confidential. Provides guidance and recommendations to leadership and team members. Maintains job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks or participating in professional organizations. Maintains a strong sense of urgency, positive outlook, team player attitude and a strong commitment to public service. Assists in other duties as assigned to support the operational needs of the department and organization. May be required to remain on campus immediately before, during, and after severe weather and/or disasters.

Qualifications
