Job Description:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Assistant Controller to join our Finance & Accounting team. This role supports the Controller in overseeing all aspects of financial management, including corporate accounting, regulatory and financial reporting, budget and forecast preparation, and development of internal control policies and procedures. This position is ideal for a finance professional who is ready to take on responsibilities that go beyond those of a traditional Accounts Manager and support the company's strategic financial goals.

Duties and Responsibilities:




  • Assist in managing all accounting operations including Billing, A/R, A/P, GL, Cost Accounting, Inventory Accounting, and Revenue Recognition.





  • Coordinate and direct the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts and report variances.





  • Prepare and publish timely monthly financial statements.





  • Support month-end and year-end close processes.





  • Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting.





  • Manage and comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.





  • Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.





  • Supervise and mentor accounting staff, providing direction and training where needed.





  • Collaborate with internal departments to support overall company goals and objectives.





  • Assist with audits and work closely with external auditors.





  • Provide insights and recommendations based on financial analysis to improve efficiency and profitability.




Required Skills and abilities:





  • Strong understanding of accounting principles (GAAP).





  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.





  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.





  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.





  • Proven ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.





  • Experience with ERP systems is a plus.





Education and Experience:





  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or MBA preferred).





  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably with at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role.





Physical Requirements:





  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk or working on a computer.





  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.





  • No supervisory responsibilities.
