DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Semi Skilled Laborer, you will engage in semi-skilled tasks related to the upkeep of the facilities and surrounding areas at the Hollidaysburg Veterans' Home. You will mow lawns, clear snow, manage landscaping projects, maintain equipment, and load materials. You will also support other maintenance staff and operate light trucks and other vehicles. This role requires working in various weather conditions and the ability to work alone or with other skilled trades personnel to maintain our facility for residents, staff and visitors. In addition, you will transport residents and materials using Commonwealth vehicles while adhering to DMVA general safety rules at all times. Interested in learning more? - Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
- Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
- Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- One year of experience in laboring work including the use of tools and equipment used in maintenance or construction; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Condition of Employment:
- You must be in possession of a valid PA non-commercial Class C driver's license or equivalent.
Additional Requirement:
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Preferred Qualifications (not required):
- Experience working landscaping projects or mowing with commercial equipment
- Experience working in the PM maintenance and repair of small engines, i.e. mowers, saws, weed eaters.
- Experience in commercial snow/ice removal of buildings, sidewalks, parking lots, using salt spreaders, snow blower, plows, skid loader, front end loader.
- Experience in general carpentry, masonry, and other related trades.
- Experience working outdoors in all types of weather, adverse conditions.
Legal Requirements:
- A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
- This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
- Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
