Summary of Job Duties:In collaboration and partnership with appropriate library departments, the Experiential Learning department's Events Coordinator will be the day-to-day primary point of contact for scheduling, coordination, and logistical planning of events and/or special meetings to be held in Mullins Library's event, classroom, and meeting spaces. The Events Coordinator will also be responsible for assisting other library departments, as needed, with coordination of their own public outreach and programming initiatives to be held in Mullins Library. This position will support the work of University Libraries internal events planning group and will work closely with the Director of Public Relations, Business Office, and Facilities to manage communications, promotion, and overall logistics for events held in Mullins Library. In coordination with the Director of Experiential Learning & Physics Library, this position is responsible for helping with the creation and modifications of library policies related to the usage of public event, classroom, and meeting spaces. The Events Coordinator is responsible for overseeing part-time hourly and student employees. As a member of the Experiential Learning leadership them, this role provides functional supervision, training, and guidance for desk and service activities to other full-time employees, including other leadership team members. As a member of Experiential Learning, this position is expected to help staff and support services points, resolve patron disputes, and provide courteous and professional services to patrons throughout departmental service areas. Occasional evening and/or weekend shifts may be required to support events held outside of the standard work schedule. This position reports to the Director of Experiential Learning & Physics Library.

Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others. Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree or equivalent college experience

  • At least two years of public-facing customer service experience

  • At least one year of professional experience in event planning and coordination

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Springshare's LibCal product or similar event/room management systems

  • At least one year of professional experience in library services

  • Experience with Ex Libris' Alma/Primo Integrated Library System

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written

  • Strong commitment to high quality service

  • High level of organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Ability to prioritize and meet expected deadlines, use judgment and analytical skills for problem solving, and seek consultation when appropriate or necessary

  • Ability to work in a complex setting and to work both independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment

  • Ability to work effectively with people from a variety of diverse backgrounds
