The Program On Regulation, Therapeutics, And Law (PORTAL) in the Division of Pharmacoepidemiology and Pharmacoeconomics, Department of Medicine at Brigham and Women's Hospital and Harvard Medical School invites applications for research assistants to support empirical research at the intersection of pharmaceutical use, regulation, and economics.
About PORTAL
Founded in 2012, PORTAL is one of the largest non-industry-funded research centers in the US studying drug pricing, drug policy, and the clinical, economic, and legal aspects of medication use and outcomes. Our team includes 4 Harvard Medical School faculty and over 20 research fellows, trainees, and staff with diverse expertise across medicine, law, economics, ethics, and health policy.
Position Details
PORTAL research assistants work under the direction of our faculty and postdoctoral research fellows. Job responsibilities include data collection, data analysis, and supporting the writing or editing of empirical research studies for publication in peer-reviewed medical and health policy journals. Research assistants may also be asked to support faculty members with writing and submitting grants, presenting and disseminating research, fulfilling requests from policymakers, and other administrative tasks. This paid position exposes new college graduates to the intersection of medicine, law, and health policy, offering significant work experience and built-in support for graduate school applications. In addition, our faculty members are dedicated to supporting research assistants as they take the next steps in their careers, and PORTAL alumni have gone on to have successful careers in medicine, public health, public policy, law, and more. Qualifications Applications are invited from recent college graduates or undergraduates who will complete such training by June 2025. Research assistants are expected to begin in the Summer of 2025 and be based in the Boston area for the duration of their position. A minimum two-year time commitment is required. Requirements for successful candidates:
* Demonstrated academic excellence;
* Deep scientific background (research and/or experience working with data is encouraged);
* Strong writing, editing, and synthesizing skills;
* Strong critical thinking and analytic skills;
* Ability to be adaptable and flexible;
* Ability to keep multiple projects moving simultaneously;
* Ability to work independently and to collaborate within small teams; and
* Reliability and commitment to schedules and deadlines.

Bachelor's Degree Science required
