  • PURPOSE


  • This position serves as a subject matter expert to provide fleet safety guidance and consultation to regional operations management and team members. As the Fleet Safety Manager, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our fleet of vehicles and equipment. Your primary responsibility will be to implement and maintain comprehensive safety programs to protect our team members, equipment, and the communities we serve. This position provides subject matter expertise and development to support the Regional Senior Vice President and their staff related to compliance efforts with fleet safety, DOT, and other related regulations, as well as the company fleet safety policies and Standard Operating Procedures.


  • ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Assess the fitness of the fleet and recommend changes, as necessary.
  • Monitors the repair and maintenance of the fleet at designated facilities.
  • Communicate safety policies, procedures, and DOT regulations to all relevant personnel.
  • Monitors files, auditing for completeness and accuracy of the file content.
  • Reviews driver inspection reports and HOS logs.
  • Provides and/or coordinates DOT/Fleet safety training for the team members.
  • Establishes and assists with the implementation of administrative fleet/safety policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with other departments to investigate the causes of accidents and develop and implement corrective actions to prevent future similar occurrences.
  • Review complaints from customers or the public regarding improper or discourteous service or actions.
  • Conduct regular fleet safety audits to assess compliance with Federal and State DOT regulations and company policies and procedures.
  • Utilize telematics and other technology to monitor and improve driver behavior. Implement and manage safety-related technologies, such as an in-cab camera system.
  • Identify areas for continuous improvement in fleet safety-related performance. Recommend and implement initiatives to enhance overall fleet safety.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.


  • SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES


  • This position does not have direct reports but indirectly assists in managing team members, including staff selection and training; planning, assigning, reviewing, and directing work; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems, as applicable.


  • MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS


  • Commercial driving experience is preferred.
  • Six months to one year of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong knowledge of transportation and safety regulations.
  • Excellent communication and training skills.
  • Analytical and problem-solving abilities.

  • Duties are performed in indoor and outdoor work environments in varying weather conditions.
  • Work in an office is generally sedentary but may involve walking or standing.
  • Frequent travel is required.
  • Must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.


Occasionally will need to climb ladders, stairs, and onto vehicles and mobile equipment.

Candidate will need to live in the Northeast Region for travel purposes.
