https://www.garvangardens.org/ Summary of Job Duties:With the review of and collaboration with the Executive Director, carry the vision of Mrs. Garvan and the Fay Jones School of Architecture and Design into the physical manifestations of the Garden, including capital projects and development of the Garden Operations' staff and crew.

Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others. Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Landscape Architecture or related field from an accredited institution of higher education

  • At least five years of management experience that demonstrates progressively responsible leadership roles, preferably in a complex organization

  • Understanding of garden design, color theory, horticultural practices, landscape maintenance, public garden operations, and function

  • Experience working with independent contractors

  • Experience as a self-starter, creative, persuasive, and goal-oriented

  • Experience supervising staff and volunteer groups; ability to collaborate across departments and provide leadership and support as required on special events

  • Experience in budgetary and cost controls

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters - MLA, MBA from an accredited institution of higher education

  • Working in partnership with higher education

  • Experience in non-profit and/or facility operations

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities (KSAs):

  • Knowledge of ornamental plant materials of the Mid-South

  • Demonstrated working knowledge of native and ornamental plants and ecosystems

  • Knowledge of State procurement procedures and AutoCAD or other drafting programs, strong manual drawing skills

  • Demonstrated excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal

  • Organized and detail-oriented

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule and under deadline pressure

  • Ability to work independently and lead team members effectively

  • Ability to collaborate across departments and provide leadership and support as required on special events

  • Ability to complete and oversee the implementation of designs, including construction drawings, contractor relations, and scheduling

  • Ability to work under deadline pressure
