POSITION SUMMARY:

The Senior Application Engineer is responsible for implementing technology solutions that are aligned with the long-term IT strategy of the organization. The Application Engineer will provide technical and informal team leadership across both internal business and IT partners as well as assist in the management of external partners. The Application Engineer will be responsible for the technical requirements, design, implementation, and quality assurance of application solutions and support. The role is also responsible for implementing and maintaining integrations between various enterprise software applications.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION:



  • Support management of IT and cross functional projects of medium to high complexity using standard business analysis and project management methodologies.
  • Meet and build strong relationships with stakeholders and align to current or new product owners, keeping a good information flow, and/or to remove blockers.
  • Architect and Design custom applications as needed by the business.
  • Develop, oversee, and implement integration solutions using enterprise integration patterns, middleware technologies, and API management tools.
  • Customize and enhance third party platforms and applications.
  • Provide guidance and leadership to other team members.
  • Effectively communicate with IT cross functional team members and external vendors.
  • Coordinate installations/upgrades provide support and troubleshoot system issues.
  • Evaluate industry standards, new trends and technologies in the solution development landscape
  • Provide input on development of technical support strategies and procedures to accomplish stated goals and objectives for applications in coordination with appropriate managed service providers or external partners.
  • Provide direction and solutions and perform report and dashboards writing tasks utilizing various development tools, including Microsoft Power BI and SQL Reporting Services (SSRS)
  • Perform SQL Administration tasks including Maintenance, Backup/Restore, and Installations.
  • Maintain and provide status documentation on projects and support issues
  • Follow required validation procedures for application changes and upgrades. Adhere to quality system standards.



ADDITIONAL ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION:



  • Regular and predictable work performance
  • Requires independent judgment with analytical skills in formulating decisions concerning different problems with different solutions
  • Display a high degree of inquisitiveness and an eagerness to learn at a detailed and abstract level
  • Highly self-motivated with a strong business sense to capture and fulfill the business requirements for all products and articulate in an architecture model
  • Knowledge of applications and technological advances with the elements that make up the application environment
  • Must be highly service oriented, tactful in approach when dealing with users and results oriented
  • Strong Agile and DevOps framework experience
  • Ability to work independently, manage priorities and multi-task
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to act as informal leader within the team
  • Will need to be able to provide developer-level application support and operational oversight aligned to responsibilities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication
  • Experience with business analytics tools such as Microsoft Power BI and Gateway configurations.
  • Development experience with Microsoft Visual Studio .NET (2012 and above)
  • Strong experience in relational database design, development and administration. Preferably SQL Server 2016 and above
  • Understanding of distributed source control systems (e.g. Git) is highly desirable



BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:



  • Bachelor's degree required or 10+ years of equivalent experience or demonstrated equivalent combination of education, training and experience
  • 4 years of experience information services department or organization




    • Minimum 4 years' experience with .NET development.
    • Minimum 4 years' experience with Microsoft SQL Server
    • Minimum 4 years' experience with Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS)
    • Minimum 3-4 years' experience with API Management and Integration tools




  • Written/Report writing skills
  • Ability to travel 10%



OTHER REQUIREMENTS:



  • Ability to regularly walk, sit, or stand as needed
  • Ability to occasionally bend and push/pull as needed
  • Ability to pass pre-employment drug screen and background check
