Job Overview
The Electrician (ICIDS Technician) facilitates the installation, preventative and corrective maintenance, repair, and modification to Integrated Commercial Intrusion Detection Systems (ICIDS) and other security equipment (e.g., CCTV). The incumbent will provide daily maintenance operations and activities for all assigned facilities. The incumbent receives and evaluates work orders and requests, investigates requests or problems, and completes the necessary repairs. This is a union position located at Picatinny Arsenal, Morris County NJ.
Responsibilities
Essential Duties & Job Functions:
- Serves as Electronic Technician for the ICIDS system and other security systems for intrusion assessment, and an entry control subsystem to control ingress and egress to the areas and structures within the Installation.
- Performs all phases of installation and operational maintenance work (testing of components, cleaning devices, troubleshooting, adapting, or redesigning such components) on access control systems in accordance with established schedules.
- Documents results of preventive maintenance inspections on Master Services Report (MSR)
- Provides advice to management and users within the installation on the inter-operability and maintenance of ICIDS applications.
- Interprets standard automated security applications requirements, initiates action to correct or implement applications, and recommends revisions to accommodate changes.
- Tracks materials, projects, and project completion.
- As required, provides technical assistance and advice to managers on utilization of automated systems, including data usage for preparing various reports and making management decisions regarding the overall program. May be required to design and build testing products and conducting research for replacement or improvement of and circuits/system design.
- Installs, tests, repairs/maintains, and removes ICIDS, CCTV, and other security equipment and components including servers, workstations, balance magnetic and duress switches, passive infrared motion, volumetric, and glass breakage sensors, control units, keypads, remote poller multiplexer (MUX) cabinets and components, modems, etc.
- Installs, repairs, and removes associated wiring and conduit. Monitors daily system operation and establishes schedules to meet system requirements. Analyzes system products to ensure they serve intended purpose and needs of system users.
- Troubleshoots problems, develops alternative approaches for problem resolution, and either resolves or coordinates with appropriate staff to resolve difficult system and equipment problems.
- Identifies and corrects invalid data. Reviews quality control reports, reject listings and data base reconciliation to determine trends and initiate guidance or action to correct error conditions.
- Performs administrative duties on the security console as described in the ICIDS manual, security policies and guidelines, and applicable Government regulations.
- May be required to operate Government or Chugach-owned motor vehicles and/or other equipment.
- Supports the project Safety Plan though personal involvement in all aspects of Safety, including training, safety protective equipment and clothing, and adhering to safety requirements pertaining to particular trades or skills.
- Assists with snow/ice removal efforts or Mission Critical tasks as assigned.
- Other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
Mandatory:
- US Citizen
- Possesses and maintains a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to install, troubleshoot, and repair designated security systems.
- Possesses or can obtain the following certifications within a six-month period (or as issuing agency schedules allows): RS2, DAQ and Pelco Video Expert
- Experience working on computer/server systems.
- Verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to pass background check and/or drug screen.
- Ability to acquire and maintain government identification (Secret Clearance) required for the position.
- Must possess valid state Real ID or Standard ID AND Valid Passport/Passport Card.
- Ability to deal with a variety of people in a professional, courteous manner in diversified situations.
