Proctor Foundation at the University of California, San Francisco is seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Clinical Instructor to fill a full-time faculty position for the Cornea, External Disease and Refractive Surgery service. Rank and salary commensurate with experience. The candidate will provide clinical services for adults and children in cornea, external disease and refractive surgery, conduct basic, translational, or clinical research, and develop or advance a clinically relevant research program. The expected division of effort will be 85% clinical and 15% research. This position will be integral to the Cornea service, providing expertise in acute corneal ulcers, emergency corneal care, and general corneal clinics, while also participating in resident and medical student education. The role includes a strong commitment to research within the cornea subspecialty and active participation in departmental didactic events. In addition, the candidate will provide clinical services at UCSF Mission Bay and Benioff Children's Hospital Oakland. Requirements: Qualified candidates must hold an MD or equivalent degree and have of a California Medical License, or an equivalent Special Permit such as the 2113 issued (or Special Permit application submitted) by the California Medical Board, or be eligible for full, unrestricted licensure, by the time of hire. Candidates must have completed fellowship training in cornea, external disease and refractive surgery at the time of appointment. Demonstrated teaching competency as well as demonstrated success in clinical or laboratory research are essential. Candidates must have a distinguished record of excellence in clinical care, teaching and research. It is expected that successful programs will be advanced by the candidate in all these three areas. The total negotiated salary for this position will include another component at the time of hire.
