JOB SUMMARY: The Assistant Director of Patient Care (ADPC), in conjunction with the Clinical Nurse Manager of the Critical Care Unit, is responsible for ensuring that quality nursing care is delivered to all patients and his/her nursing units in accordance with the philosophy, policies, procedures and program plans of the hospital. Assists with the development of patient care standards, orientation and continuing education. Provides input into the evaluation of staff performance and the hiring of new employees in accordance with organization policies. Participates in nursing Quality Improvement. Assists with unit administration, including scheduling, payroll and maintenance of supplies and equipment. Assists with the development of policies and procedures for the department, maintains high visibility of the unit and is a clinical resource who acts as a role model for the staff in the designated area. The ADPC is responsible for maintaining the continuity of patient flow, ensuring a safe environment for patients, staff and visitors. Use an understanding of the principles of growth and development to assess each patient s age-specific needs and provide age-specific treatment and care. Ensures that the unit/department/division is in compliance with all applicable policies, laws and regulations. EDUCATION:
