What you'll do

We are thrilled to announce an exciting opportunity for an onsite Manufacturing Engineer to join our dynamic team in Duluth, GA!

As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will work to drive process improvement throughout all functional areas of Viasat. You might help conduct make/buy analysis, work in facilities planning, introduce new products, or plan future projects. While working in this cross-functional role, you will interface with many different departments in Viasat, including engineering, quality, purchasing, planning, logistics, and production to coordinate the release of new products, sustain the production of existing products, or conduct failure analysis of returned projects. This role requires a "can-do" attitude, excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently.


The day-to-day

  • Provide technical expertise and support related to various manufacturing processes, ensuring efficient and effective production.
  • Help resolve quality issues by investigating root causes, implementing corrective actions, and improving process controls.
  • Develop detailed process routings and plans utilizing the Solumina Manufacturing Execution System (MES) to optimize production flow.
  • Troubleshoot equipment and tooling issues, performing diagnostics and implementing repairs or adjustments to minimize downtime.
  • Plan and coordinate new equipment installations and product line moves, ensuring seamless integration into existing manufacturing operations.
  • Assist Engineering with new product development by providing input on manufacturability, process design, and equipment requirements.

What you'll need

  • 5+ years of experience as a manufacturing engineer.
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, a related program or equivalent years of experience.
  • 5+ years of experience with Solumina MES.
  • Strong problem solving skills.
  • Great communication skills.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex engineering documents and drawings.
  • US citizenship required.
  • Up to 10% travel.

  • Solid Works experience.
  • Antenna systems experience.
  • Experience with Agile.
  • Green Belt and/or Black Belt training.
  • AutoCAD 2D or 3D.

Salary range

$108,000.00 - $170,500.00 / annually.
For specific work locations within San Jose, the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, the base pay range for this role is $134,500.00- $201,500.00/ annually
